HOW MANY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE HAVE YOU HAD AS A DOG TRAINER?

Marni ran her own business since 2012 and Mehak has been training professionally since 2016. They both decided to combine their knowledge and expertise and started “Sensible Canine” in 2022.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF ANY DOG TRAINING CLUBS OR AFFILIATIONS?

We are a proud member of the Colorado Dog Trainers Network. Marni holds an online dog training certification from the Animal Behavior College and Mehak holds a Certification in Professional Dog Training – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Counsel for Pet Dog Trainers (CCPDT).

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

First we schedule a 15 minute Free Phone Call which can be done here. Before your call, we ask that you fill out a Discovery Questionnaire to give us a few more details. During our call, we’ll  tell you more about our training options and get to know you. The call is absolutely free and you are under no obligation to sign up for our services. 
If you decide to move forward from there, we will schedule our 1 hour Initial Consultation and will send you a Contract and Invoice to fill out which will be due before the scheduled Initial Consultation.

IS THERE A BENEFIT TO SIGNING UP FOR A PACKAGE?

Packages are offered at a discounted rate. We’ve found that not much is accomplished in just one training session as positive reinforcement requires consistency. A Behavior Package is 5 sessions and a Manners Package is 6 sessions. Both these packages include the 1 hour Initial Consultation as the first session in the package.

CAN I PAY FOR A SESSION INDIVIDUALLY?

Absolutely. This is a useful option for those who either want to purchase each Manners or Behavior session individually versus buying the Manners or Behavior package in a lump sum, want to just purchase a few sessions versus a whole package, or for those who want to buy an individual session as an add-on or refresher after their packages are complete.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR MY FIRST SESSION?

We encourage you to have a variety of different treats that won’t upset your dog’s stomach and ideally, a front-clip harness and a regular 6-8 foot leash for walks. We also recommend having a chew toy your dog loves to help keep your pup distracted for the first bit of our initial consultation session so we can talk. 

WHAT WILL BE COVERED IN THE FIRST SESSION?

In the first part of the appointment, we will learn more about your dog, their history including behaviors and health, their personality traits and daily routine. We will discuss what you and your dog have concerns on and would like to improve on. We will cover the foundations of working with your dog including how they learn, reading their body language and communication between human and dog.
In the second part of the appointment, we will start hands-on work to help address concerns and teach what you and your dog should work on before our next appointment. 

CAN I ASK YOU QUESTIONS BETWEEN SESSIONS?

Definitely! For our training plan to succeed, training in the time between the scheduled sessions is important for concepts to form. If you get stuck or have a question, feel free to email us or call/text and we will help you out.

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

We start with scheduling an initial 1 hour consultation and will send you an invoice for $175 for that first session once scheduled. After this, if you decide to do a package, which most of our clients do, we can then schedule our next session and you will be billed for the remaining sessions of the package ($500): 4 more sessions for the Behavior Package and 5 more sessions for the Manners Package. Individual Behavior sessions can be purchased for $150/session and Individual Manners sessions can be purchased for $125/session.
All payments are due prior to the scheduled session date. We accept Credit Card or ACH Payments through a secure online system. We can also accept other methods of payment, as needed.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT?

We understand that sometimes things come up and you cannot make your scheduled appointment. If this is the case, we ask for a 48-hour notice before canceling or rescheduling an appointment, otherwise the session will be considered forfeited. Of course, we understand that emergencies happen, such as car accidents, sicknesses, family emergencies, or weather. If any of these are the case, we will gladly work with you!
